The class Arachnida is a diverse group of arthropds which include: spiders, scorpions, ticks, mites, harvestmen, and thier cousins. Most arachnids are carnivorous, which typically prey on insects, and terrestrial, living in land. They provide an important service, keeping the insect population under control. Most are thought to be pests, or dangerous to humans. Some spiders can kill humans, but these occurrences are very rare. Scorpions are poisionous and can spread deadly illnesses, such as lyme disease. Arachnids are found everywhere, but they prefer warmer climates.
